Off the beaten path: a food and culture experience
Rome is not just a tourist destination. It is, first and foremost, a living, breathing city of 4
million people, their daily lives crisscrossing in between 3 thousand years of history, culture
and traditions. Born and raised on these streets, the guides will let you in on the secret
stories of romans past and present, allowing a unique understanding of the city. And since
I believe that of all Roman institutions, food is by far the most important, I decided it
should be the main theme of this experience: food in our culture means sharing, knowing
each other and exploring new experiences, and this is what we intend to offer you.

In a three hour food walk across one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city you will be
eating the food you’ve never heard about, seeing the view that nobody else has seen. You
will be tasting cured meat inside the chopping room of an old butcher, treating yourselves
with Rome’s most famous street foods, climbing a dark and winding staircase to a unique
view of the city, a glass of prosecutor waiting for you at the top.

All the while, to prove that Rome is not just a pile of ancient ruins, our local guides will be
sharing with you the inside stories of this city: from the lost traditions to those that have
survived the passing of centuries, from the politics of Julius Caesar to those of our day,
from the hidden rules for street crossing to the key words to win italian hearts over.
